This version rocks, guys. Way faster than 5, and more features (and I think even faster) than 4.

*Go to http://m.opera.com in your phone browser.
*Ignore message about 4.3. Click "Other download options"
*Scroll down to "Options for Opera Mini 6.1" then click "Select Code-Signing Certificate"
*Click "All Certificates"
*Click "Download Opera Mini 6.1"
*Install
*Enjoy!

Trust me, this destroys all previous editions. It's great. Have fun!

Whenever I get a data plan for my phone, I will definitely try this. I haven't been able to access the filesystem on my Pantech Laser (or find a forum dedicated to the phone) but there is an Always Allow option for the app permissions, so maybe that will prevent the constant prompting for data access (not sure if that option is there for 3rd party apps because I can't install apps other than OTA..)

Well, I think this is the "Allow Once" permission thing, where you allow it each time you start it, but not every time it uses data, at least on the Eternity. How's the Laser working for you?

Also, message Samsung Eternity (1st member) on the forums. He might be able to start a forum for you.

I got a data plan today and decided to try this out. My phone is recognized when I go to m.opera.com. It prompts me every time I click a link, even though it appeared that there was a certificate along with the download.
Although I don't think I'll use Opera too much as it seems that most java apps have a really small font size (since this phone has a pretty high res screen). It also has the arrow keys at the bottom, which is pretty annoying. I really wish I could access my filesystem (I'm pretty sure the OS is somewhat related to the Eternity, since a lot of the menus are the same. They probably just use the same base dumbphone OS and skin it)
So far I haven't been able to get anything to access the filesystem of my phone.

Hey guys, recently upgraded from the Eternity to the Eternity II and I'd like to confirm that visiting the mobile Opera site from this phone will get you a fullscreen version of Opera Mini 6.1 as opposed to the version with the arrows. I don't know if this has been changed for the Eternity yet, however.

It works for us, too Smiley

Wrong place to post this. The answers are no and yes, respectively to your questions. Search the forums.

Does the 6.1 have a password manager like the previous one did? I would really like to use a mobile version of roboform but I don't think thats available for the Eternity. I really like having that master password for my banking and paypal, in case phone gets lost. I think the regular opera mini password manager does not have that function, but just remembers the passwords and logins until you delete them, and then you start over. I would also like to be able to sync up my roboform on my laptop with my Eternity, but I think I may be dreaming...thanks for the info though on the new version!

This version rocks, guys.

My opera mini began nagging me for a new version. I followed your instructions, and they worked fine for version 6.5. Thanks!

PS A few of us are still using our Samsung Eternity phones. I'm still holding on to mine, glad a few of you are still monitoring this forum!!

I could not find 6.1. So I ended up performing the same steps from the OP only with version 7 and not 6. Version 7 rocks! Love the keyboard. Makes me feel like I have an Android phone. Haha.
