After I got everything sorted out I went back and explained the bug in the OP. I don't know if I made sense but it was a real bug Grin.

Did you do an OTA download or did you download the jar file from here and install it with the other method? If you did it with the other method I can't help you. All I can suggest is deleting version 2.0 first before installing 2.1.

If you did an OTA download it should have said new version? Then you pressed save? When you start the app does it say version 2.1 in the splash screen?

How many email addresses do you have saved?
In the previous version if you had more than one email address in the list and you didn't check off the first one you would get this message: "Failed. Please try again. Missing info." It was expecting the first one to be checked (bug fixed). Three things are required: image, name, and email. However, it won't even let you try to send it without that information. It will tell you exactly what is missing before you can send it.

What is the exact message you are getting?
There are four responses you can get from the server:
"Failed. Please try again. Missing info." - part of the post didn't make it
"Failed. Please try again. Wrong key." - you trying to hack Wink
"Done." - painting sent successfully
"Failed sending email. Please try again." - any number of things beyond my control

There is another message built into the code. It is "Failed..." something or another. It will occur if you have a network failure.

How strong is your signal? Edge or 3G?

I just sent myself a number of paintings with various combinations of email addresses checked off and they were all sent successfully.

Is anyone else having this problem? Please tell me.

All I did was delete oiginal and download new. Then i deleted and redownloaded new. I only had 1 e-mail address. The exact message i got was "Failed. Please try again. Missing info."  I have fine signal where i am, and i saved my painting before trying. I check the box next to the e-mail, and i also tried without. I follow the instructions at the bottom of the screen exactly... Huh

Okay, I made a change in the script. You don't have to re-download the app. Just try emailing it again and see what happens. I guarantee you won't get the same message. Hopefully it will work or you will get a different message.

If anybody else is having this problem they aren't telling me. I don't know if this is an isolated incident or not.

Let me know what how it goes.

*BUMP*

Bantam Paint+ version 3.0 is available now. Version 2.* will no longer be supported and you can't send emails with those versions anymore. Please update to version 3.0. See the original post for details. Thank you.

Thanks but there is no reason for it to be a sticky. It just needed some first page exposure for a bit. My other sticky has a link to this post. That's good enough after awhile. Maybe it can be a sticky for about a week then you can take it off?

This must be my favorite app because I'm already on the 3rd version. I was finally able to get a working PNG encoder so that we can save more than 2 paintings at a time. Based on the file sizes from my testing you could potentially have a few hundred paintings saved if you wanted to.

Some other weird stuff still pops up sometimes that I haven't figured out yet. I'll just keep working at it. I don't want to let the 10 people that are interested in it down Smiley.

Hey Bantam. Is it possible to save them to the memory card? I assume your program saves them somewhere else now. I know with OTA we couldnt give permissions to access the memory card before. But a few of us have started doing TKExplorerInstalls and the permissions have been allowed to access the memory card that way.

Also do you realize it takes almost 20 seconds now after you hit email before the email screen opens up?

I like how the dots for the pencil dont seem to happen anymore. Love the program.

20 seconds? Possible I guess. It takes anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds on my phone. I sacrificed speed for file size. The image data is being converted to a png file with a library made by these people: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mobilebio. The encoding is a cpu and memory intensive process. If it is slow, it is their fault lol. The bmp file in the previous version was 282K. With the png encoder the file size drops to around 5K. Overall I think the email sending time is about the same. Before it took longer to send it. Now it sends faster but takes longer to get it ready. Is the trade off worth it? I think so. I hated only being able to save two paintings.

Are you talking about the settings.bin hack or something else that allows memory card access? I was wondering if that worked. I was actually thinking about making a hacked version of BP+ if that worked.

Oh and I didn't change anything with the pencil.

No Im not talking about the settings.bin hack. If you install using TKFileExplorer it installs it on your phone like it was from factory. I have been able to install programs that I couldnt OTA. For some reason it tricks the phone into thinking it was installed by ATT.

For instance take the gps program mgmaps. It is able to access cached maps off of the memory card only if you install it the TKFE way. If you install the signed jad through their servers, our phone still rejects the permissions giving the error, not allowed to access the api. Just like it wont allow use of the gps. But installing the TKFE way, it sees the gps and it is allowed to read and write to the memory card.

If you do it this way you wouldnt even need the email part of your app and you wouldnt have to keep your servers running for it.

About the pencil. Way back on version one I messaged you that if you used the pencil it gave dots if you moved too fast. Now it seems you can move alot faster and the lines stay solid. I dont know if you changed anything dealing with the pencil since then but it works a whole lot better now it seems.

About the email time. The time is no big deal. Just the first time I tried to do it I ended up pushing email like 3 times and had more screens open. I just didnt know about the wait. I posted that the wait is normal for those on the Impression site. Maybe after pressing email you could put up a "please wait" or something to let the user know the keystroke has been recognized.

But it would be great if somehow you could get the save on the memory card.

I didn't know that about the TKFileExplorer installs. I've never done it that way. That's cool.

That's a good idea. I think I rushed the release. I hope people continue to download the updates. Speaking of which I already released a patch. There was a bug in the actual sending part of the email. Sometimes the internet connection wouldn't close (esp. when sending to more than one email address) causing problems. I'm pretty sure I fixed it. I'll see what I can do about the "please wait" message later. I really need to go get something to eat.

Thanks for the helpful feedback and interest in BP+ Agoattamer.

***EDIT***
I added the please wait message and made it so that you can't press a button multiple times.
