Haha, for me, it's probably around 40 total, only about four whom I text enough to warrant threading....

I have a feeling that I'm a bit of an outlier, though. Not all too representative of the average eternity user...

I need to know what the average number of sms contacts is that you guys have. Also, what would be a suitable number of contacts to access? Sensible numbers please.

I have roughly 65 contacts all said and done, and regularly(ish) text maybe a dozen. Lets say 2 dozen that I have ever really texted lol. Hope that helps a little bit.

I have about 20 that I text on a regular basis. 95 total contact list. Can you just do a "recent contacts" and "last 3" similar to what we have now?

I text maybe 25 people on regular basis. It is nice to send out mass texts for an announcements like "we're having a boy!" etc. but then again who cares about threaded texting in that situation.

Not really bumping the topic, more of just asking if any progress has been made or if the html front-end is priority... Any obstacles that you've encountered?

I'm on vacation right now so not much is getting done. I am expecting to have a problem receiving texts because of having to leave the application running in the background. The eternity doesn't allow programs to run when minimized. I was going to try a different approach. If anyone has any info on reading the sim memory that would be quite useful and may be a deal breaker

1) Programs can run while minimized. You just have to leave the thread (perhaps a separate one) running in the background.

2) I'm not sure if you can read the sim. Your only chance is with the PIM APIs. It can read contacts, events and to do lists but I'm not sure if it gets them from the phone's memory or the sim's.

@Bantam&Java
But most people don't have contacts stored on sim b/c of the phone's memory. It's rather (backed up) on the sim...

I was just suggesting an api to look at that might do what you want. JSR 75.

@Java
Only the first thirty are stored on the sim card. After that, it utilizes the phone memory...
So I kinda see where your coming from, but at the same time I can see where there can be workarounds with just enough finagling and chance lol. What I'm getting at is that there are instances in which the ones that are stored on the sim card are ones that people don't want to get rid of (one's from a loooong time ago) I don't know... As it stands I think Bantams got a good point about the API.

I understand where your coming from though.

Forget everything I said! It doesn't really matter... The package JSR 75 is what you need.
I know its kinda against the rules but its for the betterment of OUR phone so...

I really hope this helps!
