I was browsing through the registry files on TKFE and came across this file MmsSetup.ini which came up with these settings. Wasn't Sure if we could possibly do anything with them.

If you change anything you must reboot phone for changes to take effect.

Why cant you do anything with the nv_default.ini?

I can edit it and do system restore, and guess what?

You can change anything, i almost have my solstice like the impression, but i cant figure out the keyboard font color. wow I guess im the only one that has big balls to try this.

and the mmssetup.ini. doesnt do anything, atleast not that i have found.

and how long has this phone been out, and i figured it out on the solstice? wow come on guys

What exactly did you change and what are you referring to as a system restore?

I was bored so I just tried this, changed the lines

NV_SI_DIALING_FONT_TYPE=1
NV_SI_DIALING_FONT_TYPE_SEC=0
NV_SI_DIALING_FONT_COLOR_TYPE=1
NV_SI_DIALING_FONT_COLOR=419
NV_SI_DIALING_FONT_COLOR_GRADATION_START=665
NV_SI_DIALING_FONT_COLOR_GRADATION_END=665

to different values, put the file back on my phone, did a pre-config, and my dialer looks exactly the same.

Either I did it wrong or it doesn't do anything on the Eternity. Could you please give some more details?

(EDIT) Pre Config appears to reset this NV_Defaults file back to normal... Huh

i have not gotten the dial pad yet, i got the message screen black, but my keyboad the letters are white and so is the keyboard, so cant see letters...

and a restore, instead of reset.... its restore.

menu/settings/phone/Restore phone

it erases everything!!!! and does a full system restore.

what is this pre-config???

The eternity doesn't have a restore function. Preconfig resets all basic filesystem settings but not everything.

Beats me? I can't really think of a way to actually "load" the nv_defaults file on the eternity. Sure you can move the file back on the phone, and if you download it to the PC again you can see it still has the changes you made, but it just sits there and does nothing. Preconfig overwrites the NV_defaults that is on the phone, doing a "reset" doesn't appear to do anything, so I really don't know lol.

so your telling me there is noway to remove user data? how ever you set the phone back to default is how it works, restore the phone everytime you edit/replace nv_default.ini

edit this line NV_SI_SKIN_COLOR_TABLE= 0-11
0. Black background, black letters. Full hopeless
1. White background, white letters.
2. The orange-red background, black letters, crimson popups (confirmation, etc.).
3. Everything as usual, at first glance.
4. The green background, white letters, black background and white text in messages, the gray pop-up windows, the green symbols on the keyboard.
5. Yellow-orange background, white text, gray pop-up windows, black background and white text in messages, the green text in the pop-up windows.
6. Purple background, pink line breaks, white lettering, red line confirm the selection, raspberry pop-ups. Black background in communications.
7. Light gray background, white letters, white-gray pop-up windows, white text on a light gray background in communications, the white line confirmation.
8. White background, black letters, white-yellow pop-up windows, the red string confirmation, but, alas, the white text on a white background in communications.
9. Black text on a black background.
10. Color scheme behalf madhouse Bright yellow text welcome message, gray text on a purple background and a bright purple confirmation menu.
11. impression, without the black keyboard

Thats the thing, the only things that "reset to default" is the preconfig, which rewrites the nv_default.ini or the reset settings. Neither have an effect when changing that line. Also neither option completely takes back to factory defaults. The only thing I know of that does do it is flashing the firmware. At least for this phone. I'm going to try messing around with it some more though. Thanks for the info.

ok, I really have no idea where the "ACTUAL" NV_Default.ini file is because this one definitely gets overwritten when you actually do the preconfig to bring everything back to default. I went to SystemFS/Settings/PreConfiguration/ and in there is a file named PreConfiguration.ini, which says:

#Info
PreConfigName=Generic
ItemCount=1
Item0=default
DefaultItem=default
#default
DisplayName=Default
SrcFolder=Default
FilePathSystemFS=/SystemFS/Settings/OperatorSettings/Default

Notice that last line which doesn't actually appear to be visible from TKFileExplorer.
Well I went a little further and I went to SystemFS/Settings/PreConfiguration/Default/NV

That folder was empty, so I put the modified NV_defaults.ini in there, and changed the path on the preconfig from

FilePathSystemFS=/SystemFS/Settings/OperatorSettings/Default
to
FilePathSystemFS=/SystemFS/Settings/PreConfiguration/Default/NV

I wanted to see if the preconfig would pull this modded file from that folder instead.

I tried a preconfig expecting to blow up or brick my phone but instead, nothing happened.. Everything looked the same.

This file (the original NV_default.ini) doesn't appear to be the "real" one, and the  change to the preconfiguration.ini did not do anything either.

(EDIT) Changing the lines
PreConfigName=Generic
and
DisplayName=Default to something else DID change the way it reads in the preconfig menu on the phone, so modding this file does do SOMETHING.

(EDIT AGAIN)
I tried to add a second item to the phone's preconfig menu and I was able to get another button to appear but the name will not show up. I'm trying to create a non default option to see if that works, but so far it let me choose it, and rebooted as normal, no brick, no fire, no special anything lol.
