Hello,

I downloaded the "signed" version of Google MAPS and still don't see the GPS feature that I had on the Samsung Blackjack II.  Is it available on the Eternity?  How do I turn it on?

Thank you.

I dont mean to sound like a dick but did you even bother to search the GPS Navigation thread??? I know theres got to be at least 3-4 topics on this.... anyway the answer is no you cant use the GPS feature seeing as the GPS on our phone is locked to AT&T Navigator.

I did a search and saw some conflicting threads.  Can I unlock the app?

BTW, it did kind of come across as a little dickish, but that's o.k.

The only dick around here is Randall Stephenson http://www.att.com/gen/investor-relations?pid=7824

In fact he won't even let you use the GPS with the included Yellowpages app.  Now that's dickish.

I beg to differ guys...when i first bought my Eternity I downloaded the non touchscreen version first and it opened up with the blue dot showing 'my location'. It was off a lil but it definitely worked...but since i downloaded touchscreen version it doesnt show on the menu. So I guess if someone modded the latest version it would function with GPS. Sorry i dont know how to but i feel it is possible.

The reason it was off was because it's not using GPS it's using the closest three cell phone towers to triangulate your position.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

To sum this thread up google maps does not or ever did use the gps for the eternity. It has always been using triangulation from cell towers to get your position. mgmaps and amaze can use the gps if you apply the settings.bin hack.

I dont know why the eternity cant use the gps with yellowpages. I have the impression and it works for that and it is free. And it is a nice app. But the reason I am posting to this thread is when I bought my impression I got the trial for navigator. Its not bad but not worth the $10 a month. Id rather deal with amaze. But I thought the salesman said something about since I had navigator and if I ended the subscription that it turned my gps on and then I could use yellowpages.

Has anybody that has actually had the navigator subscription ever tried to use yellowpages to see if the gps works with it now? Has anybody with the eternity ever called att to see why the gps wasnt enabled for yellowpages?
