I don't know if any of yall had this problem, but I used a snippet of a song for a text alert (mp3 format) and it was pretty long for a text alert, but it would do the increasing thing when I got a text. I entered -4.0 for all of my values and now both my ring (which I have set on vibe & ring - NOT INCREASING MELODY) are steady. Thanks for all the help!

so there's no way to have the volume control (for mp3 ringtones) be functional with this hack, correct?

Sorry guys for messing this page up!!   My Quote is in within the  >----------------<  marks sorry for repeating the same quotes! I was tring to delete it and put it at the bottom. I'm still learning here!   GMaxGJM

Do you wanna go back and delete the posts that arent needed? Im not reading what you quoted whether it was a question or what. Or I'll just delete them all and you can start over. Lose the quotes if you have no clue how to use them.

HOW TO STOP THE INCREASING RINGTONE AND STILL HAVE SPEAKER VOLUME CONTROL WHEN LISTENING TO MP3 FORMATS:

Reverse the dB levels on the speaker volume, and u will still have volume control. Only works on "Increasing Melody" and "vibe an increasing melody" on call alert type. The volume will work backwards but at least u can adjust it, and u won't have the increasing ring, but the volume will get lower depending on how u set the volume. I have mine set on volume level "1"(loudest), an it rings at that volume level all the time, now if you increase the volume an u have it set this way it will ring loud then decrease as you move the volume up from 1 to 7. But it's the only way if u don't want that annoying increasing ring, and still want to be able to adjust your volume.  If this is what u want, follow the instructions below.

Type in *#197328640#
Press [8] Audio
press [3] SPK Config
press [4] AV-QTune(MP3)
Press [1] SPK MP3 Vol
That will display your dB levels 0-6, 0 is actully 1 on you volume,1 is 2 an so on.
Press the number u want to change, then tap the bottom of the screen with the flashing hash mark.
Enter the dB u want.
Don't forget to put the (-) symbol before the number or you'll blow your speaker!
Then press "ok" twice, and it will change that dB level, reverse all the dB's and your done.

If u need further assistance on how to change the dB levels, check out the threads or let me know.
I will give a detailed explanation.

I have mine set in this order:

0.[2]rx:-1.6dB
1.[4]rx:-4.6db
2.[6]rx:-8.6dB
3.[8]rx-12.6dB
4.[10]rx:-16.6dB
5.[12]rx:-18.6dB
6.[14]rx:-20.6dB
