I am looking for any suggestions on the best way to organize my music for easy access in the music player.

Sort by All Music:
I get a HUGE list of course. Depending on how you do things this can be a list of song names only or artists and songs but neither option works very well. I generally need to know both the artist and song to remember what something is and if you display both the combined text usually ends up being too long to fit on the screen and for longer band names you don't even see the song name at all!

Sort by Artist:
I get a HUGE list of artists almost as long as my All Music list because most of my music collection consists of 1-3 songs per artist with only a few artists having more than a handful of songs. It is slightly easier to identify what is what but also slightly more frustrating because it gives you a list of albums by that artist instead of songs by that artist.

Sort by Album:
Again, I get a HUGE list of albums almost as long as the All Music list. I generally only have 1-3 songs at most per album and and I certainly have no clue which songs go in which albums because I have never sorted my music like that nor do I want to.

I'm not really sure what I can do about any of this. The only idea that I have is tp change the ID3 tags of my songs so that the album name for each track is really the track name. Since the album view displays both the album name and artist when in list mode, this would give me an All Music list that displayed both the artist and album without cutting off the text. The problem is that it would be in order of song/album name and NOT band name so that multiple songs from the same band wouldn't be grouped together (making it very difficult to find a specific song if I remember the artist but not the song name).

Any ideas?

You may know this, but holding in the touchscreen on a file name will scroll it so you can see the whole text.  Might be a little slow for your needs but good info if you didn't know.

Mine doesn't seem to do this, at least not in the music library.

Sorry about that.  I guess that just happens when browsing via MY STUFF ----> AUDIO ---> MUSIC.  Looks like something to add to the firmware update wishlist...should be scrollable at all times.  Since I only have a few full albums on my card for now that's the only way I knew how to access them.  At least you showed me something new Wink

Hmm you are right. If you look from there it does scroll. Interesting. It even directly shows songs by artist instead of forcing you to go through albums, too! If only the music library part from within the player worked like this...
