I happened to be on samsung's site looking for info on the new touchwiz... and saw that there is a new version of the PC Studio that just came out today.

I've downloaded and installed already. I didnt use the PC studio much before... just to sync my contacts, so I'm not sure what's new.

But it certainly opened up MUCH faster. Dont know if they had it before... but there's an app called internet connector that I was able to easily tether the Eternity.  I'm trying to sync contacts directly from Outlook right now... it's taking awhile... might be working?

Anyways... just thought I'd pass it along... I did try to update the program from within PC Studio and it wouldnt... so you have to grab the install and then install it. I found that the new installer uninstalled the old version, then I had to relaunch the installer.

Yeah already tried it last night and still wasn't working with Vista 64-bit so I'll stick with my PC Studio 3, I am using it for my laptop though that runs XP.

The internet tether is an old feature already on the previous version, it lets you use your phone as a modem to connect online, very good for those with unlimited data plan and use their laptops when theres no WiFi connection available.

I don't have any USB issues with it only under Vista 64-bit where it gives me driver problems thats why I use PC Studio 3 instead. As far as using it on my laptop that has Windows XP it works fine.

This worked for me to get me connected to my PC (Vista).

First, install 2 programs - downloaded from Samsung site:

Samsung New PC Studio (Version IB2) (ver.IB2)
MCCI_WHQL_USB_Modem_Driver_4.40.7 (ver.4.40.7):

http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/support.do?group=mobilephones&type=mobilephones&subtype=att&model_nm=SGH-A867&language=&cate_type=all&mType=SW&dType=D&vType=&cttID=2082109&prd_ia_cd=01010100&disp_nm=Eternity%20(SGH-a867)&model_cd=SGH-A867ZKAATT&menu=download&menu2=detail

Then you need to go to your phone, turn off bluetooth (very important) by:

Going to "setting" --> "connectivity" --> "Select USB mode" --> "Samsung PC studio" --> "Save"

Then plug USB cable into phone and then into your PC USB port. You should see "found New Hardward" - "Samsung ......"

Then your PC studio should recognize your A867 automatically.

Worked for me.

Tethering uses the phone as a modem (to access the internet) if you do not have unlimited data plan it is not advised to use it primarily because 1mb of transfer will practically cost you $10.

Computer/Laptop -> Phone -> Internet

replacing

Computer/Laptop -> Cable/DSL/Dialup -> Internet

Tethering is good for those people who are on the go and don't have access to WiFi hotspots.

Has anyone encountered a problem with Internet Connector where after connecting once, disconnecting and then reconnecting there is an OS Error?  The only "solution" I've found is to reboot my Vista system.  I'd rather only have to restart a service or, better yet, do nothing and it just works.  Any ideas?

Version IB5 seems to have fixed the error message when the program closes. However, I found that it wouldn't connect to my phone unless I did a complete uninstall of the previous version - including all data files.  Then it seems to work okay.

I managed to uninstall the previous version of PC Studio and all drivers because I wasn't able to tether internet from my phone at all using my hp laptop. My son has the same setup, he connects with no problem with his Dell.

I reinstalled with the newest version and everything seems to work thru the new software except the tethering to the internet thru the phone on my laptop. I did install the of the MCCI WHQL drivers but still can not get the laptop to hook thru the cell modem.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I was totally thinking about doing this, but..being someone who knows their AT&T features and sells their equipment, I figured there was something that would happen if I did do this...  I'd love to tether for $10/mo, but I know they'll yank my plan LOL.

If you only use internet tethering sporadicaly (I only use it when I travel and can't
find a cheap enough wifi connection), you can call ATT and turn on a data plan for
the time you need it and then have it turned back off. I haven't tried this yet, but
that's what I've been told by the customer reps. It still costs, but at least you can
limit the cost to when you actually need it.
