Is there any way you can add a widget to access txt messages?

No, there is the "notifications" widget that will "pop out" when you recieve a new text message ( while you are on your home screen ... most notably ) also there is the "MultiTask" button on the lower right side ( i think its the higher one of the 2 ) that if you click on you can get a menu opening up that if you touch the "messaging" icon it takes you right to your messages.

you can press the shortcut key and click on messages...in terms of widget though, when you receive a new message, on the little notification bar thing, you can open the widget bar on the side and drag the notification widget into the bar....you cant clikc on it and get to the menu though...
