I am really confused and cant find any help.  I downloaded TKFileExplorer but cant connect it to my phone.  PC Studio is closed (and the conn monitor) and I tried ports 0-10 with no luck.  Any advice?

What error are you getting?  It could be several things.

If you get "Unable to open the specified port"  Make sure your phone is in PC Studio mode under connectivity.  Open PC Studio and connect to your phone, then close PC Studio.  Delete the Tkfileexplorer.ini,  and open TK, go to options and it should have the port that PC studio used available on the drop down menu.

If the connection is immediately lost upon trying to connect, reboot your PC and your phone.  Turn off bluetooth if it's on.  Try again.  If still no luck, consider uninstalling the samsung usb drivers and reinstalling.

It's normal to lose the connection when you are transferring files.  You just have to be persistent.  I've found that waiting 5-10 sec after each file transfer helps.  Ofthen you won't be able to delete a file that was being uploaded when you lost the connection, until you reboot the phone.

i am also having problems with tkfileexplorer. i have tried different drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled pc studio, and rebooted the phone and pc over and over. when i try to connect to the phone in tkfile, it takes a few moments then i get the error message - 'error: the communication link is lost.'    whilst the error message is on the screen, i can see phone (p:) in the bottom right window but can do nothing but click ok on the error window. for the life of me, i cannot figure out what i am doing wrong, but i am assuming that i have overlooked a step or something. i have searched and searched for a solution but it seems that not many are having this same problem. i have never had a problem finding the right com port. just the same error message over and over. does anyone have an idea of what i am doing wrong? by the way, i'm running vista.
thanks

I've installed in on my laptop with xp and on my computer with vista 64 with this method

http://www.samsung-eternity.com/samsung-eternity-games-b24/how-to-install-games-with-a-data-cable/

and it works everytime... you have to make sure that the device is not plugged in until both installation is done.

I dialed *2767*3855# to reset the phone. Lost contacts and everything but now it works with TKFileExplorer. It seems that if a specific error occurs when the phone is connected for the very first time it will never connect until it is reset.

Hello -- I know I can use one of the PC Studios to copy pictures, music, other files, etc. to my phone, but i'm just curious; why aren't files that are copied with Tkfileexplorer seen by the phone?  What i mean is that if i copy a picture (for example) to the pictures folder, and then try to see that picture on the phone, it doesn't show up.  Is there something that needs to be done after copying a file with Tkfileexplorer?

Thanks.

First I have heard of doing that. I'm pretty sure it has to do with file indexing. When the usb mode on the phone is set to pc studio that is what it expects to connect to. When you transfer files with it they get indexed. It doesn't know that you use are using TKFE. It is kind of like going in the back door. The file "does not exist" on the phone. It doesn't know it's there. Although, it might show up after rebooting the phone. Try that.

Also this thread is dead. Everything TKFE related should be discussed here http://www.samsung-eternity.com/index.php/topic,2172.0.html. Thank you.

i think i may have found a fix to this problem, at least it worked for me. i was having the connection lost problem and nothing helped it, what i had to do was set the usb connection to auto pc studio as i had it set to ask on connection, but since i changed it to default pc studio tk file explorer has worked every time.

After 83 posts you just now figure that out? That has been posted as one of the mandatory things to check all over the place.
