Phone works well as a modem.  3g speeds are nice.  I am using an usb connection, so the phone also charges at the same time.  You can also make/receive calls while tethering.

Phone works well as a modem.  3g speeds are nice.  I am using an usb connection, so the phone also charges at the same time.  You can also make/receive calls while tethering.

I get an error code 680 and it says no dialing.  It's looking for a phone cord from the message even though it says Opening Port.  I am hooked via cable.  The pc (XP) sees the phone in PC Studio but not for a dialup modem.

Anyone able to assist?

Fancy, the connection is very iffy for me, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't for me, weird

I just had to set it up again... hopefully it stays connected

Make sure you have the old PC Studio deleted.

Restart your computer with your phone connected.

Try again starting from tool box
name your network
select samsung mobile
change country to USA
continue, clicking past the warning to disconnect your phone

when it says 'preparing for connection', click the tower icon in the bottom left
hopefully... after a few more messages, it will connect

hope that this helps!
(now I have to check if this is going to connect again if I reboot)

Thanks I am writing this while tethered!!!

My issue was that I had USB mode set to MASS STORAGE instead of PC STUDIO.  I set it up again via PCSTUDIO which was a breeze and this morning got up to find our internet service down due to high winds.  Tried it and it connected fine.  Speed is certainly not too bad for a modem.

Thanks everyone.

After giving up with my n810, I can't get this to work with my laptop of BT capable desktop.  I can pair the device, but I can't setup a connection.

On one computer PC studio won't connect over bluetooth.

Note: Using USB this works fine, but for some reason bluetooth just doesn't work on this phone!

Please help, I'm desparate.

Thanks for the tip!  This make me like my phone even more!

Can anyone confirm that by using this as a modem, it will use the unlimited data plan?

thanks!

If you use your phone (teather) as a modem, it is considered "streaming".  ATT does not allow streaming to the phones unless you have their $35 data and text unlimited plan.  The $15 plan is "unlimited" data but they will shut you down at some point if you exceed a certain amount of data which would be the streaming part.

This is the same reason that you pay extra for the TV and can't stream Sling Box.

If you only teather once in awhile for short periods, I suppose they would think that was okay.

So has anyone confirmed whether or not AT&T will charge you for this if you use it on a sporadic basis?  Will they inform you or block you if you go over the limit?

If you have an iPhone with the $30 per month plan, can you tether for free?

Just wanted to point something out I saw on another forum:

You can tether your phone only if you specifically get a tethering data plan. It is also a violation of the AT&T contract to use a phone as a modem without a tethering plan. You can find this in the contract terms on the AT&T web site.

Some users have discovered that you can tether some phones without a laptop data plan (as tethering plans are called), as AT&T does not actually block this use (although Verizon does). If you get caught, however, AT&T can cancel your contract or charge you for the data.

I'm not having any luck at all. I cannot get the modem to pick up at all. When I plug in the phone, it goes to the microsoft scanner and picture wizard. I downloaded the modem drivers and pc studio. Please help!

I got the phone to connect using PC studio, but that program locks up ALL the time !
Is there anyway to connect with out PC studio ? I have an 8125 that I had no problem setting up manually, but when I set up the Eternity manually it says no dial tone?

I have the correct driver and modem selected in my manual setup so why won't it connect? Generally I'm a wiz @ this kindda stuff, but this one is whipping my butt !

I cannot get the "new" PC Studio to work at all.  It seemed to work great in the old version of PCStudio on my Vista computer.

I'm posting this on bluetooth over the Eternity right now.  I have Windows Vista 64-bit and New PC Studio.  I used the bluetooth manager from Windows to create the connection.

The parameters are as follows:
