I'm tired of dual booting, (well no not really) Windows 7 is making me want to smash the laptop right now because it is so slow! Its so laggy and taking almost 50% of my ram to my video memory. Thankfully I have a small partition of linux mint 8 right now and it is letting my laptop fly, I've nevver seen Fire fox fly on this laptop like this, the bluetooth drivers and wireless are great.

But...

Linux Cannot play games like Counterstrike or Age of empires... Windows 7 can but sometimes it can get slow....

So I was thinking of the following

I have an 80gb in the laptop and here is what I was thinking"

Linux mint 8 -1 boot

Linux mint 8 + Xp - Dualboot 40 - 40

Lint mint 8 + Vista - Dualboot 40-40

Linux mint 8 +xp/vista - 20 - 60

(I know it wont be an even number on both sides but its just an over view)

(The numbers are just an over view) So do you think I should try one of the option above or should I try a new Os?

Specs:
Laptop Ibm t43 2668-g6u
2.0 pentium M centriono rated at 3ghz
2gigs of ram
80gb hard drive
1 cd/dvd
6 cell battery
Running Mint 8 and windows 7 ultimate
14" matte Display
64mb x300 ati

If 7 isn't running fast, I wouldn't try Vista. I'd say just do XP. I don't really see much of a reason to have Linux if you can't use the eyecandy, or you play games.

I think Mint 8 is nice to look at and it has fast web browsing, have you seen the launch and browsing speed for fire fox for linux?

Nope, is it good?

Anyway, you could try Wine or PlayOnLinux if you want to stick with Linux since it sounds like it's running pretty well.

Hmmm, I have no idea then. I'd definitely just go with XP then. MAYBE dual-boot with Linux if there's some things that you feel Linux does better than Windows.

I too think XP would probably be the best choice. If Linux mint is working good then I would just replace 7 with XP.

Black Edition is basically XP, but you don't have to activate it (You can still use Windows Update), and it comes bundled with useful programs and drivers.

Works great!

XP is good for slow computers, and win7 is better for slow computers than vista...
