Computer doesn't recognize phone. *Help please*

For the first time, while I had my phone plugged in via the USB port, I clicked safely remove hardware. Now my phone is no longer recognized by the computer.

I have tried updating the phone's drivers, updating the USB drivers, restarting the computer with and without the phone attached, updating windows, uninstalling and reinstalling the USB ports, disabling the enabling the USB ports, formatting the phone, and trying different USB ports.

Nothing has worked.

The phone is a Samsung Eternity and can still be charged by the computer but it cannot be recognized so I cannot access it from the computer.

This is the only time this has happened and it is because I clicked Safely Remove Hardware which is at the bottom right hand of the computer screen.

I cannot reinstall the phone onto the computer because I do not have the disc.

Is there anything I could do??
