Ok, I tried installing Kalyway OS X on my new laptop (hp dv7).

Instantiation was smooth and everything worked the way it should have.

But when I reboot, nothing happens. All I can do is boot into disks. I mean, like all of my data from Windows is still there and untouched, but i cant access it. Windows won't start.... Not even the Recovery Manager (which I used last time to fix this) will start up.

Please someone help! The computer is only a month old.

Thanks in advance

Hmm, It seems like the installation didn't go so smooth, di you follow all of the directions and made sure that your computer was supported? (Its not really a good Idea to run mac osx on your new pc, well your main one atleast) If you can't figure out how to fix your problem, I suggest that you get a live cd Os (Linux windows xp) and take your important files off and just reinstall windows with your recovery cds (legit way).

Well it would seem you have no boot loader. If you were trying a dual boot. I would try reinstalling Kalyway OS X and follow this guide to make a dual boot system.

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Installation_Guides/Kalyway_DualBoot_10.5.2

Make sure you read the guide BEFORE you attempt to reinstall, hell, read it twice. Make sure you know what you are doing, if that doesn't work then the only thing I can suggest is to use GParted and fix your MBR to load Windows only and go from there and delete Kalyway all together.

EDIT: Are you even trying to dual boot?  Well maybe you can do this before attempting all of the above. Go download GParted Live CD, burn it, load it up and look at your Windows C: drive. Check the flags for this drive, it should be set to "boot" it seems that Kalyway changes the flag on the drive. If it's not set to "boot" you can change it, then restart and see if that gets you into Windows at least.  If you can get into Windows, follow the directions in the "Bootloading" section of the guide above and see if that gets you a dual boot.

I really hope you were attempting a dual boot, because I just can't imagine someone trying to totally overwrite Windows when they don't know what they are doing... If you didn't attempt a dual boot and you just installed it and let it go, then try the MBR fix, if that doesn't work I dunno. I bet you don't even have recovery cds since you had a recovery console on the laptop. If you got both, wow, that's amazing. This is the best info I can give to you because I have never attempted to install OS X of any kind on a PC. Hope somewhere in here your answer is waiting for you.

Good Luck

MBR is your Master Boot Record it basically tells your PC where your OS or bootloader is if you don't have a functioning MBR your computer won't do anything when you turn it on.

Would there be any way to get around this? Like not needing the disk?

No you will need the disk to repair the installation. Are you able to get into your recovery console now? if not you could go into GParted and usually you will see 2 partitions, one is your recovery console one is your Windows installation (btw I love that you use Instantiation) you MIGHT that is a pretty big MIGHT be able to go in and change the flags on your partitions making the recovery console partition the "boot" partition and remove the "boot" flag from the one that has Windows on it.

This may get you into your recovery console and then you can just restore your laptop that way.

if you can download and burn a disc image on another computer, I can provide a link to the recovery disc for your specific operating system.
