Alright- So firstly, I'd like to say that I absolutely LOVED my eternity. Recently- it was water damaged and the company had to send me a new phone, the Mythic.
I just thought I'd share a few points to any looking maybe to upgrade or such.

1. The Camera. If you use your camera on your eternity a lot (like I did), you'll be extremely dissapointed with the Mythic. The focus is nice, but my pictures still aren't coming out crisp or quite as vibrant as the ones on my Eternity.

2. The Speaker. I really liked the way the Eternity had the speaker for speakerphone and playing music as the same speaker for talking, that way if I needed to set down my phone while it was on speakerphone, I didn't have to set it screen down. However, on the Mythic, it's on the back, and it's really presented a problem because I don't want my screen extremely scratched. I'd also like to note that this back speaker is not crisp and I find it a bit fuzzy, and actually crackly if I put the volume up completely.

3. The Overall Look. I feel as if the Mythic is a lot bulkier than the Eternity, which I really don't like. The plastic on the back is nice, but it gets smudged and my phone now always looks dirty. I preferred the non-gloss back of the Eternity much more. The buttons are sleek- but not flush with the screen like on the Eternity. Although this doesn't make a difference function wise- I do prefer the Eternity's.

4. The Main Screen. Ok, so I do like the three screens on the phone, being able to switch from one to another. It's nifty. However, I liked the way my notifications popped up on the Eternity much more, because it was bigger and disappeared after you checked it- unlike the Mythic's notification box, which stays up.

5. The Lock Button. I absolutely hate that I have to press and hold a button on the screen to unlock my phone. I liked the Eternity much more as I could press the top button to unlock my phone, which you can't do for this phone (or maybe I just haven't found a setting?)

6. The Web Browser. The web browser is nice, but I can't get it to go into landscape like the Eternity did, Which I loved. I also found it to be a little slow on picking up the things I was clicking on.

7. The Apps & Extras. I don't like having extra things on my phone that I don't use. So the fact that the game /demos/, unnecessary apps, and extras that I don't use, are locked onto the phone, quite irks me. I don't use facebook or twitter or such, so I feel I should be able to delete those apps from my phone to make room for the other apps I do need/want.

8. Finally, The Notes. The same as the Eternity, the notes only have a limited set of characters. Going from a blackberry to these touchscreens, it's really frustrating. I like to be able to write my assignments and reminders into a note, but they rarely all fit into the same note.

So there's my opinion. I hope someone gets use out of this- as I would have thrown a fit about them sending me this phone if I had known all this before.

Well... theres an on screen hold button as well as a hold button on the top right side if I remember correctly. It's not as convinient to me as the top... but I'm pretty sure its there.

i've said numerous times, its silly for anyone to upgrade to any of the line yet unless there is a defect or loss.

I was at the AT&T store the other day, and I checked a mythic out.  I really loved the addition of Speed Dial, voice dial, black menu's, and honestly I love the fact to unlock it you have to use the screen to unlock it.  However one thing that really kills it for me: Lag.  The thing might be the slowest responding phone I've ever seen!  you tap the menu, and the screen goes black for 3 seconds, then the menu animation comes up, very choppy and slow.  The whole phone works like this.  It's as if they just took the Eternity hardware, stuck it in a new case, and put software on it that was too much for the hardware!

Anyway though I do see the new unlocking system a plus, as I tend to pocket dial people all the time with my eternity.  I didn't have this problem until my casemate case finally broke and I've been carrying it around with no case.  The button is real easy to bump.

Hmm that's strange.

I've never bumped my hold button.
But there is a physical lock button on the Mythic... its at the top right corner on the side.

Kinda of hard to bump the lock button on the eternity. You have to really press down to unlock the phone.

Plus it's on the top of the phone... there's nothing that's gonna really be above t he phone to bump it.

I sometimes slip my phone into my pocket upside down.   Also I work 2 physical jobs where I bump the phone a lot, so the button gets tapped easily at times.  Like i said earlier didn't have the problem when I had a case on the phone, but now without a case it seems to be a problem I have all the time!

I still think it is hard to "bump" the lock button. You really have to put pressure on it.

The Eternity is discontinued, the Mythic is not.
The Eternity has been out for over a year or 2, The mythic is new.
You can get the Eternity for free anywhere, the Mythic is atleast $50 on Amazon
So, im guessing the Mythic is better.
Plus my sister has one, and I played with it on the first day.
I kinda agree and disagree on the unlocking thing. The fact that you have to push the button  AND hold on the screen is kinda tiresome, but it is better because there is NO chance of accidental unlocking. The fact that you can do a circle, triangle or heart and stuff on the screen to unlock and go straight to a thing is really awesome! I can make a circle and go straight to texting, which on the eternity you have to go on menu then on texting.
The physical part of the phone looks way, way better than the eternity. I dont know what you mean by bulk, the eternity is more bulkier than the mythic...
Camera...I dont really use the camera on phones, but I thought it was pretty cool actually, cant really compare it with the Eternity since I dont have it anymore.
About the apps...If you are talking about the shortcuts on the homepage, you can change it so then you have all the useless stuff that you dont need on the last page of menu, while the used ones go on the first page, so then you rarely run into them. I havent really went into detail with every folder, but i think you can change the order on them too.

Something else the mythic can do that the eternity can't....You can install apps from the memory card using a small html file. No need for TKFE.

don't lie, it can still very easily be turned on in the pocket because it's not a capacitive touchscreen, it's a resistive and if something should poke it once you've bumped the lock button, there you go pocket dialing.  yes, it's less likely to happen than most previous samsung touch screens, but it's still possible.

so I'm a mythic owner, and don't ask me why, but it comes unlocked in my pocket much easier than the eternity.  Yeah theres a "touch to unlock" icon on the screen, but its completly optional,  as you can also unlock it simply by holding the lock button.  The lock button is on the side, and i think thats my problem.  My phones done all kinds of weird stuff while I've been working.  One time I pulled it out and it had a text up to my brother saying "This guy is weird"... lol I'm not joking (it was set up to forward a text my wife had sent me a while back)

Anyway my overall opinion of the Eternity vs. the Mythic:  Dead even.  The Mythic improves on a lot of stuff however they also ignored some annyong issues and added some new features that add new problems.  If you combine the best stuff of the eternity and the best stuff of the mythic...well its almost perfect.  I think most eternity users won't mind the mythic if they recieve one as an insurance claim, will intially be impressed by the new stuff, but then be annoyed by well how painfully slow the phone is!

Speaking of the lock button.....
I liked the one on the eternity. My previous phone was a blackberry, it locked easily enough, but the push this button then this button to unlock it kinda irked me.

I've always wondered...Why dont they do a slider lock? My Zune player has a slider lock on the top. Easy enough to switch it back and forth to lock/unlock. NEVER had it unlock and stop playback in my pocket, no matter what I was doing at the time.

Just a thought....
