I want a touchscreen phone and absolutely hate Apple so not remotely interested in the iPhone, so I've narrowed it down between the Samsung Eternity and the LG Vu. The Vu seems quite a bit cheaper and looks very similar. What makes the Eternity worth the extra price? Thanks in advance for any answers anyone can provide.

I can't give you the right answer, I did not even look at LG Vu.  My choices where the Matrix, Propel or the Eternity.

The LG Vu is pretty old. I was considering it, but the touch scren isn't nearly as good as the Eternity's. plus no accelerometer.

I am not sure of what the vu has that the eternity doesnt have, but i can tell you some things that the eternity does have.

It has illumination, so when you get a text or call the bottom flashes either blue, orange, pink, red, or green.
It has a birthday widget, so when one of your contacts have a birthday coming up it'll let you know.
Easy typing keyboard.
The touch screen is EXTREMELY responsive.
You are able to customize the font of your phone.
also, make your inbox messages smaller or bigger using the sound rocker.
Camera takes great pics too!
and much much more! That is just a little of the great things the eternity has!

Hope i helped a bit :]

The LG VU only supports 4 GB SD card. The eternity supports 8GB SD card, and I believe another post on this forum states that a 16 GB SD card works as well.

An accelerometer senses angle distortion of the phone. So when you rotate the phone and tilt it at an angle, a full screen keyboard is displayed. Also used with the web browser and Tumbling Dice app. You can also turn your pictures to landscape mode and browse through them by tilting it left and right.

Unfortunately there's not much else out for it right now... but we're all keeping our heads high!

The VU is pretty much outdated.  It is a LOT less responsive than the Eternity as well.  No accelerometer and the Web Browser is pretty much useless.

With the Eternity you can use your finger and scroll very easy thru menu selections, contacts, web pages, photos, etc. The VU doesn't.

The build quality of the VU is not very good either. It is light and feels like hollow cheap plastic.

Thank you all for your responses. I will be stopping by the AT&T store today to see if I can play with both phones, but I am leaning heavily towards the Eternity now.

Well after playing around with the Samsung Eternity, LG Vu and LG Incite (and even the iPhone) at the AT&T store today I decided to go with the Eternity. Been playing around with it for the last 2 hours and absolutely love it. Thanks for the input. Definitely helped me make what I'm sure was the right decision.

The vu has a terrible screen for typing.  I couldn't come close to typing on the qwerty with accuracy.  That was enough for me to put it down immediately.

It seems like everybody is saying that the Eternity is overall better than the VU and I would most definately agree with the crowd, But the VU seems to be more popular to AT&T comercial wise. I have yet to see anything about the Eternity yet. Anybody know why if this phone is so much more superior to the VU?  Or is it still that new?

Hmmm I had seen just a few for the Eternity. But I think the phone got enough publicity from word of mouth, I mean... it was on back order for like a month. Why advertise something that sells? (exclude mac)
